Meet Mark Sorensen, DDS

                                                             Dr. Mark Sorensen DDS

Dr. Sorensen was raised in a very rural town in south central Idaho. At an early age, he was given responsibilities on the family farm which steadily increased up through high school. Because the family farm was located at the base of a mountain ten miles from town, he developed a love for the outdoors. His fondness for nature meshed well with the scouting program and led to him achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

Attending a small high school gave Dr. Sorensen opportunities to develop a variety of interests. In addition to playing on the football, basketball and baseball teams, he kept himself busy with student government and choir.

After graduating as high school valedictorian, he attended Brigham Young University-Idaho for a year prior to serving a two year Spanish speaking mission in Minnesota for his church. Upon returning to Idaho, he resumed his studies, majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry.

After graduating Magna Cum Laude at BYU-Idaho in 2006, Dr. Sorensen moved his young family to Iowa City, IA, to begin dental school. He completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of  Iowa in 2010. His academic record was outstanding throughout dental school and he was inducted into the national dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon.

Dr. Sorensen then entered a 4 year maxillofacial surgery residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York. He received extensive training providing in deep sedation/general anesthesia, dental implants, reconstruction of oral and facial defects, hard and soft tissue grafting, corrective jaw surgery, facial cosmetic surgery and treatment of many other oral and facial conditions.

In his spare time he enjoys camping, fishing, and riding motorcycles. Above all he thrives on spending time with his wife Rachelle and their 5 children.

His professional memberships include: American Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association, Arizona Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
